Have you ever seen that cartoon, Pinky and the Brain? Every episode a little mouse called The Brain hatches a new plan to take over the world. No matter how brilliant and inventive his latest plan for world domination, it always seems to fail. Usually, it’s because of Pinky messing something up. Which begs the question, “Who is the real brain?”
Key to getting more of what you want isn’t about clever tricks or duping others into doing something. It’s down to relationship and how you manage them. And key to that is developing your assertiveness skills.
Just think for a moment… How often has someone got the better from you, simply because they were more articulate, bullish or you were too damn nervous of speaking up for what you want? It happens to all of us from time to time.
That’s why I’m super excited to be talking about this subject. It affects just about every human interaction you have.
What I’ve done in today’s episode is shared some of my top tips from a series of courses I run around assertiveness, leadership and confidence. I get a lot of great feedback from students on my courses about the models and strategies I’m sharing with you here. I hope it serves you as well as it has for others.
In this episode I cover:
- Human reactions to stress
- Values and beliefs
- Bartoli’s Box
- Your assertiveness rights
- 10 difficult personality types and how to deal with them
Dealing with Difficult Behaviour Types Cheat Sheet
As always I like to +1 what I’ve done on the podcast. Today is no different. I’ve prepared a cheat sheet for you on the 10 difficult behaviour types and go in to much more detail than on the podcast. Take a look at these. They should really help!

On top of talking about Sherman Tanks, Snipers and other common behaviour types, I’ve also included Bartoli’s Box and the Assertiveness Rights I gave you on the podcast. Feel free to add any rights of your own that you want to add.
Don’t underestimate the power of the exercise around assertive rights. I’ve seen many people turn a corner through this.
Do me a favour and let me know what you think of today’s episode. What did you find most useful? Are you struggling with any of the personality types I mentioned? Did you come up with any Assertiveness Rights of your own? I’d love to know!

Got a Question You Want Answered on the Podcast?
Every month or so I’m doing a Q&A episode where I answer your questions about strategies for growing your business. If you ask something I can’t answer or I feel will be better answered by a specific expert, I’ll find that person to get an answer for you.
